Whether it be a watercolor or mixed media, the excitement to me is found in the tension of shape placement versus negative space. I am intrigued with patinas and unusual textures, and try to mentally store them away for future use in a painting.

My paintings reflect places that I've been or experiences I've had. I love plein air painting. I find that when I'm painting "on site" that I tend to capture more of the essence of the moment.
