James Toogood

Incredible Light and Texture
in Watercolor
August 3-7, 2009
9:30-4:30
$375.00

Artist, author, and teacher James Toogood paints the people, places and
things that make up contemporary life. Just look in Splash 6,7,8, and 9 to see
numerous examples of his paintings. His painting "Breakers on a Rocky Coast" is
on the cover of Splash 10. James writes the column "Looking at Watercolors" for
American Artist on-line.
Toogood's workshop will be based on his book, Incredible Light and Texture
in Watercolor. Students of all levels will learn about color, paint and
pigments as they apply to setting a painting's mood using light and texture.
Based on daily demos, students will work on paintings of their own for
landscapes, both nature and urban, to improve their ability to meet
the challenges of lighting and texture in each setting. Depending on time and
student demand, James will also include watercolor portraits and figures in the
workshop. The workshop will include painting critiques for the students.
