Dovie Wu
began painting as a watercolorist in 1997. Given her lifelong interest in
music and dance, she often incorporates movement and the spirit of music in
her paintings. She likes using vibrant colors and painting people and
landscapes that inspire her. In her paintings, the brush strokes are gentle
and soft, and her subjects are often chosen to express her sensitivity as
well as a sense of surrealism.
Ms. Wu has traveled all over the world. Her travels to far-flung places
such as Italy, France, Spain, the former Soviet Union, Scandinavia, Mexico
and the Far East have become the inspiration for many of her paintings. She
loves to explore different mediums and particularly enjoys impressionistic
expression. Though watercolor is her favorite, she is equally proficient in
acrylic, oil, and pastel.

In December 2003, she joined a partnership to start the gallery "Artists
Showplace" in Dallas. She is very active in organizing workshops in the
gallery that offer the artists the chance to study from well-known teachers
in their field. She is very enthusiastic in her efforts to provide local
area artists the opportunities to further their artistic education.

Ms. Wu received her MS degree from Penn State University. She is a member of
the Southwest Watercolor Society and the Pastel Society of the Southwest.
Her work has been accepted in SWS and PSSW juried show. She is currently on
the advisory board of the Crow Collection of Asia Art in Dallas.
