Doris Vasek Doris is a native Texan. While working full time and going to night school, she eventually received her MBA from Amberton University. Her career was centered around purchasing and materials management in the telecom and electronics industries. She has received her Lifetime Certified Purchasing Management certification from the Institute of Supply Management. After taking a very early retirement, Doris finally had time to truly study painting. As an emerging watercolor artist, Doris has realized that color was the one thing that traveled with her through the various crafts she had worked with in the past. The intrigue of color was really what interested her through mediums such as spinning, weaving, quilting, stained glass, dyeing fabric and other art forms. Color is what drew her to watercolor. Doris began studying watercolor in 2005 with Naomi Brotherton and 2006 moved to study weekly with Sharon Serrago at Artists’ Showplace. She has also taken workshops with Soon Warren, Margaret Huddy, Karen Vernon and Linda Rowe. Doris paints in her studio in Rockwall, Texas and at Artists’ Showplace. She is active in the Rockwall Art League as the current Membership Chairperson. |
